new rootkit detection tool posted on rootkit.com called SafetyCheck 1.5. i tried it on xp pro sp2 and it locked up my pc, forcing me to pull the power cord and restart.

At this time I would not recommend to use it anyone. It is in very alpha state. Wait some time for stable and workable release or you will be bluescreened/hanged =)

I would think that a shop could do it in an hour depending on the type of mower. That would be about $60. What is the purpose of the safety check? What are you concerned about?
